Props

The Props page holds the 3D props in your workspace — scene-dressing objects like furniture, plants, and décor that you place around a product in the studio. Props are independent of any one product, so you build a library once and reuse it across projects.

Reach it at Asset Library → Props, or directly at /library/props.

What a prop is

A prop is a standalone 3D model used to set a scene rather than to be the subject of it. Where your product is the thing you're rendering, props are everything around it — a chair, a potted plant, a side table, a backdrop object — that makes a shot feel like a real environment.

Props come from two places, and both end up in the same workspace library:

  • The Glossi catalog — a curated set of ready-to-use props you can add to your workspace in one click.
  • Your own uploads — your own 3D files, normalized by Glossi so they behave like any other prop.

What's on the page

  • Toolbar — Count of props, an All / Favorites filter, search, sort, and an Add Prop button (with a menu to Upload prop or Browse catalog).
  • Asset grid — Prop cards, each showing a thumbnail. Props still processing show a progress bar; ready props show their preview.
  • Card hover actions — Favorite and a menu (delete).

Adding props

Browse the catalog

Click Add Prop → Browse catalog to open the catalog. Search and filter by category, then click any prop to add it to your workspace. Catalog props are ready immediately — no processing.

Upload your own

Two ways to upload:

  • Drag and drop one or more 3D files anywhere onto the Props page.
  • Add Prop → Upload prop, then drop or choose files.

Supported formats include GLB, USD/USDZ, FBX, OBJ, GLTF, and ZIP. Glossi runs each uploaded file through the same conversion pipeline as models — normalizing geometry, fixing scale and orientation, optimizing textures, and generating a preview. While that runs, the prop's card shows a Processing state with a progress bar; it flips to ready (with a thumbnail) when conversion finishes. You can keep working or close the upload panel — uploads continue in the background.

Props you add are workspace-scoped, so everyone in your workspace can use them.

Using props in the studio

Props are placed inside Glossi Studio, not from this page. While editing a project:

  1. Open the Props panel from the studio sidebar.
  2. Pick a prop from your library and add it to the scene.
  3. Position, rotate, and scale it in the viewport.

The prop library inside the studio shows the same props you see here — it's the same data.

Filtering and finding

  • All / Favorites — Toggle between every prop and the ones you've starred.
  • Search — Filter props by name.
  • Sort — Order by recency (newest or oldest).

Tips

  • Start from the catalog — It's the fastest way to dress a scene; add a few staples (a plant, a surface to stand on) and build from there.
  • Favorite your go-to props — Surface your most-used pieces in the Favorites filter for quick access during studio sessions.
  • Upload clean, scaled files when you can — The converter handles a lot, but a tidy GLB at real-world scale gives the most predictable result.
