Backdrops
Choose a background, edit its surfaces, and control whether HDRI affects lighting or the visible scene.
Use Background above Models in the scene panel to choose what appears behind your product. Use Lights for illumination, and Template when you want to replace a complete setup.
Choosing a background
- Choose Change on the Background row above Models in the scene panel.
- Choose an available option such as Half Pipe, Floor and Wall, Color, or Transparent.
- The choice applies immediately. Selecting a backdrop while HDRI supplies the visible background returns HDRI to lighting-only mode.
The header shows the currently visible background source. When HDRI is visible, its identity appears here instead of the hidden backdrop.
For supported backgrounds, click the adjacent color swatch to edit the surface color directly. The swatch appears only when that visible background supports it.
Editing background surfaces
Choose Background settings to open detailed controls. Depending on the current background, these can include wall and floor materials, color, texture scale, or visibility. Only controls supported by that surface appear.
Changes apply as you edit. Close dismisses the inspector; it does not revert your changes. A property's reset returns that property to its supported baseline, which is different from undoing the most recent edit.
For material editing, see Editing your model. The available background controls may differ from those on a product.
HDRI lighting and background
Open Lights, then select HDRI. Choose how the environment image participates in the scene:
- Lighting only: use the image for illumination while keeping your selected backdrop visible.
- Lighting and background: use the image for illumination and display it behind the product.
Background settings routes to HDRI controls when HDRI is the visible source. You can also choose another backdrop from Background to return to lighting-only mode.
Blur affects the visible background. HDRI color adjustments such as hue, saturation and contrast can affect both the image and its lighting. Inspect the product's reflections as you adjust them.
Applying a complete template
Template selection is a larger change than choosing a background. Browse a template, choose Apply to this project, then review the replacement confirmation. The setup includes lighting, background/settings, saved angles, video clips and props.
Template previews show example media. They are not a live preview of your product in the new setup. Cancel before the final confirmation to keep the current setup unchanged. Do not rely on ordinary Undo to restore a replaced template.
Save a setup you want to reuse before replacing it. Template saving and updating permissions depend on your workspace and the template's ownership.
Click the current background name to open its settings. When a color swatch is available, click it to edit that color directly. Templates remain in the header because they replace a broader scene setup.
