Decal slots

Mark named logo areas on a model once, then give each variant its own logo in them.

A decal slot is a named area on a model, such as Left sleeve, Chest, or Back, where a logo goes. The slot stores its name, position, size, rotation, and appearance. Slots belong to the model, so every variant of that model shares the same slots in the same places.

The logo inside a slot belongs to a variant. Each variant can show a different logo in the same slot, or leave it empty. Switching variants in the studio swaps the logos, and renders of each variant use that variant's logos.

A model can have up to 6 slots. Slots are created and edited only in the studio. Outside the studio you choose which logo goes in each slot; see Logos per variant.

Open the slots

Select the model in the scene panel and open Decals. The list shows each slot by name, with its logo for the active variant or a dashed square and Empty when the active variant has no logo there.

Click a slot to select it. The Decal slots panel opens on the right with that slot's controls.

Add a slot

Choose Add slot in the Decals list or in the Decal slots panel. A new empty slot appears at the center of the model, named Slot 1, Slot 2, and so on. Its name field is ready for typing, so enter a name such as "Left sleeve" and press Enter.

You do not need a logo to add a slot. New slots start at about 30% of the model's size so the slot fits on the model. Adjust the size afterward.

When the model has 6 slots, Add slot is unavailable and the panel shows Limit reached.

Name a slot

Click the name at the top of the selected slot to rename it. Enter or clicking away saves the name; Escape restores the previous name. Use names your team and factory already use, since the same names appear on every variant and in production files.

Place a slot

Choose Move, then click the model where the slot should go. Choose Cancel or press Escape to stop without moving. The position is saved for the model, so every variant sees the slot in its new place.

For fine adjustments, use Placement in the panel. Drag the pad or enter H and V values to slide the slot around the model.

Rotation

A slot stays level as you move it. Its top follows the model's own up direction, so moving it does not tilt it. Only Rotation under Placement turns it.

On a surface that faces straight up or down, the slot's top points toward the back of the model. Use Rotation to turn it from there.

Size and logo fit

Size scales the slot. It scales evenly by default; turn off uniform scale to set each axis separately. The panel shows the slot's size in centimeters and inches. Those sizes are accurate when the model is at real-world scale.

A logo keeps its proportions and fits inside the slot, centered. A wide wordmark fills the slot's width and a square crest fills its height, so one slot can take either without adjusting it per variant.

Appearance controls, such as opacity, roughness, and color adjustments, also belong to the slot and apply to every variant.

Select a slot, then choose Assign logo, or Replace logo if it already has one. Pick an image from your Decals library.

The logo applies to the active variant only. The panel shows which variant it is for, and other variants keep their own logo. To remove the logo from the active variant without removing the slot, choose Leave empty on followed by the variant name.

To give another variant a different logo, switch to that variant in the studio and assign one, or choose logos on the variant's page in the library.

Placeholders in the studio

Slots show a placeholder on the model so you can see where they are:

  • Empty slots always show a dashed border, corner marks, a center crosshair, and a see-through fill.
  • Slots with a logo show only a border, and only while you hover the slot in the list or select it in the Decal slots panel.
  • The hovered or selected slot draws in purple.

Placeholders appear only in the studio. They never appear in renders, library previews, thumbnails, or production files.

Remove a slot

Select the slot, choose the trash icon, then confirm Remove. The slot is removed from the model, so it disappears from every variant.
