Model versions

A model's file changes over time: a fix to the geometry, a retextured pass, a new export from your 3D tool. Uploading the new file as a version of the existing model keeps the model itself, and everything pointing at it, in place. Projects, material groups, calibration, and showroom setup all keep working, and every earlier version stays available to download or restore.

Each colorway keeps its own version history alongside the base model's.

Upload a new version

Open the model page and scroll to Versions. Click Upload new version and pick the replacement file. Any format Glossi accepts for a new model works here too.

  • The upload shows its progress, then the new version reads Converting while Glossi processes it.
  • Your model stays exactly as it was during conversion. Its status doesn't change and the studio keeps loading the current files.
  • When conversion finishes you'll see "Version 2 is live" and the model, its thumbnail, and its 3D preview switch to the new file. The previous files are kept as version 1.

The first time you upload a version, the model's existing files become version 1 automatically, so there is always something to go back to.

One version can be in flight per model (or per colorway) at a time; the upload button waits until the current one finishes. If a conversion fails, the failed version shows the reason and the model carries on with the version it had. You can upload again straight away.

Go back to an earlier version

Every version that converted successfully has Use this version. Choosing it makes that version live immediately, with no reconversion. Nothing is deleted: the version you moved away from stays in the list, so you can move between them freely.

Download any version

Each version has a download menu with the formats it has: the converted GLB, the USDZ where one was produced, and the Source file you uploaded. Formats a version doesn't have are greyed out.

Colorways

When a model has colorways, select one on the model page and the Versions section switches to that colorway's history. Uploading there creates a version of the colorway, not of the base model, and the base history is unchanged. Exporting a colorway's GLB from the studio is recorded as its next version automatically, marked as exported.

Storage

Every version keeps its converted files, so each one counts against your workspace storage like any other upload.
