Upload and process a 3D model
Upload a 3D file when you have an existing CAD or DCC source and need the most control over geometry, parts, and materials. Glossi converts the source into a model the streamed Studio can use.
Conversion preserves what the source and selected format can carry. It can also expose differences in material translation, texture paths, UVs, scale, pivots, or unsupported source features. Verify the processed model before building final work from it.
Choose the source path
Open Library, choose Models, then select Add Model.
- Upload a 3D file: Use an existing product model.
- Generate from photos: Create a starting representation when no source model exists.
- Browse sample models: Learn the workflow with a ready asset.
Generated models require geometry and material review before production. For a comparison of all three paths, see Add a product model.
Upload the file
- Choose Upload a 3D file.
- Drop the file or select it from your computer.
- Keep related textures available according to the source format.
- Confirm the workspace unwrap behavior shown below the dropzone.
- Start the upload.
The dropzone lists the formats and file limits accepted by the current product path. Format coverage can vary by entry point, so use Supported 3D file types when preparing a production handoff.
You can close the modal after upload begins. The model card continues to show its processing state.
Understand unwrap behavior
Your workspace controls how Glossi handles texture coordinates during processing:
- Auto-fix all: Regenerate or repair texture mapping for every upload.
- Auto-fix when needed: Intervene only when processing identifies a need.
- Use as-is: Keep the uploaded UV layout.
An automatic unwrap can improve a broken source and can also replace an intentional layout. Choose the rule that matches how your team authors textures.
Wait for usable state
A successful file transfer is not the same as a ready product. Glossi may still be converting the model, generating previews, and preparing it for Studio.
Open the model when processing completes and verify:
- silhouette and proportions
- scale and orientation
- part separation and pivots
- material assignment and names
- texture placement and resolution
- transparency and glass behavior
- modeled options, poses, or configurations
Processing time depends on source complexity, texture payload, conversion capacity, and the selected format. Use the displayed state rather than a fixed time estimate.
Prepare for reuse
A production-ready model should make the decisions that matter easy to repeat. Name meaningful parts and material regions, calibrate scale, and save the materials that should recur across projects.
