Uploading Your Models
When you bring a 3D model into Glossi, the process is straightforward while ensuring your model renders beautifully. Our platform accepts most 3D formats, with USDZ, glTF, and FBX providing the smoothest experience since they keep materials and textures intact during upload.

Step by Step Model Upload
1. Upload Your Files
From the Models page, you can upload a model in two ways:
Click the "Upload Model" button to open the upload modal.
Drag and drop a file directly onto the Models page to open the upload modal.
Recommended formats: USDZ, glTF/GLB, and FBX with embedded materials provide the best results.
Other formats: STL, OBJ, and others are supported but may need material reassignment in the studio.
File size: Files under 100 MB are preferred, though uploads up to 1 GB are supported.
For more on getting your models ready, see our Preparing Your 3D Models guide or our guides on exporting from standard 3D design tools.

2. Automatic Model Validation
When you upload, Glossi checks three key elements:
Materials — Materials define how surfaces look and interact with light. When your model includes materials, they transfer directly into Glossi. If materials are missing, surfaces will appear gray and you can apply new materials using our library.
Textures — Textures add detail and realism to surfaces. If your model includes textures, they carry over with their full detail. Without textures, surfaces will be smooth until you add them in Glossi.
Colors — Basic visual properties you can assign in CAD tools. Found colors maintain your original design intent. Where colors are missing, surfaces will appear neutral gray until you make adjustments.
3. Processing Models and Upload:
When you upload your model, Glossi optimizes it for real-time use in the studio. The geometry — the actual shape and structure of your model — stays exactly as you designed it. We convert everything into a format that works seamlessly in our platform.
Note: Processing time depends on file size. Most models are ready in under a couple of minutes, but larger files can take up to 10 minutes.

Best Practices & Additional Guides
Glossi's rendering capabilities scale with your model's quality. Whether you're showcasing intricate machinery or sleek consumer products, our engine can handle high-resolution textures, complex materials, and detailed geometry. The limiting factor isn't Glossi — it's the model you bring in.
To get the best results, prepare your model before uploading:
Verify all materials are properly assigned and named
Check model scale and position
Clean up any geometry issues
Optimize mesh and texture density
